Best-selling author Barbara Rainey knows firsthand the challenges newly married couples face. Dismayed by Hollywood depictions of marriage and the seemingly easy solution of divorce, she sees a desperate need for a voice of experience, a mentor who has been there and understands—and can encourage, coach, and care.
As her daughters began their married lives, Barbara wanted to share with them, and now you, some of the lessons she learned throughout her own marriage as well as those gleaned from years of ministry to couples. In these heartfelt, insightful letters, she answers the tough questions and addresses the realities of marriage. Through personal stories—including her own mistakes—and practical advice, Barbara provides the tools and direction to help you become a godly wife and determine your part in achieving a better marriage.
Barbara Rainey is a wife, mother of six adult children (plus three sons-in-law and two daughters-in-law), and "Mimi" to 21 grandchildren. After graduating from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts in history, Barbara joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ (now known as Cru) in 1971. Her husband, Dennis, whom she married in 1972, is the president of FamilyLife, a ministry of Cru that is headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Barbara has published articles on family-related topics and is the author and coauthor of many books. She speaks at FamilyLife's Weekend to Remember® marriage getaways and is a frequent guest on FamilyLife Today®, a nationally syndicated daily radio program. Having faithfully served alongside Dennis for more than 40 years both in ministry and at home, Barbara has recently launched a new endeavor called Ever Thine Home®. "It's not often that I rave about a book. But I can't help raving about Barbara Rainey's new book, Letters to My Daughters: The Art of Being A Wife. I rave and I gush. It is so incredibly beautiful from the first page to the last. Not only is Barbara a gifted and powerful writer, but she has a sprinkling of gorgeous art found throughout her book as well. This insightful - and honest - perspective on marriage will make a lovely present to each of my daughters. And it's definitely a book that I will be reading over and over again."
Lisa Jacobson, Club31Women
"When I read a book written by a Christian author I admire, I savor their words hoping to hear God speak to me, challenge, and guide me. God-wisdom begins with desiring Jesus more than myself. With her decades of marriage experience Barbara Rainey writes openly in her book Letters To My Daughters about the lost art of what it means to be a married woman. Barbara delivers Godly Biblical wisdom that this world needs. Her principals to remain steadfast in faith can change a heart even after a marriage has settled into a season of feeling bone tired and encourages her reader to remain hopeful in their forever vow of marriage."
